Minister of Health in South Sudan Riek Gai Kok asserted that Egypt was among the first states that supported South Sudan via human resources.

In an interview with MENA, Kok said that there are chances for 300 South Sudanese students in the Egyptian universities.

He said that 70% of the South Sudanese government that was formed in 2013 that included 18 ministers who were graduates of Egyptian universities.

During the visit of South Sudan's President Salva Kiir to Egypt last year, Abdel Fattah El Sisi announced his commitment to establish Alexandria University in South Sudan and it was established in Tonj state, he said.

Also, Sisi decided to grant 16 doctors in South Sudan scholarships to study pediatrics and they are currently in Egypt, he said, adding that there are medical convoys from Egypt in the specialties of orthopedics, general surgery, pediatrics and obstetrics and gynecology.

Egypt continues to offer support to South Sudan in the field of human resources, he added.
