Minister of Health and Population Ahmed Emad El Din said Saturday that Egypt became a leading country in curbing Hepatitis C virus, underlining that 1.300 million patients diagnosed with hepatitis C were cured, while there are countries who cannot cure 30,000 patients.
The minister made these press statements during his inspection of a hospital specialized in treating patients suffering from liver diseases in Dinshal village in Beheira governorate.
The visit of the minister to the hospital comes before its inauguration. The minister was accompanied by Beheira Governor Nadya Abdo during his visit.
The cost of hepatitis C treatment reaches dlrs 80 per patient in Egypt, while in the US the treatment costs dlrs 80,000, adding that Egypt does not have patients on waiting lists for hepatitis C treatment, the minister told MENA.
