Egyptian Agriculture and Land Reclamation Minister Salah Helal said on Monday Egypt got an international certificate of appreciation for the first time during President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's era from the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
Speaking to MENA, the minister said Egypt has been awarded the certificate for its successful experience in combating poverty and hunger to less than 5 percent.
Helal received the certificate on behalf of President Sisi.
Egypt was one of the countries that have achieved the Millennium Development Goal target of halving the prevalence of undernourishment by 2015.
The results were announced in the annual UN hunger report (The State of Food Insecurity in the World 2015) published by FAO, the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the World Food Program (WFP).
