The Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) on Thursday held a grand ceremony at the Fairmont Bab Al Bahr Hotel to honour its volunteers for having completed about 100,000 volunteer hours this year in contribution to the agency's humanitarian efforts inside the UAE and overseas.
Secretary-General of ERC, Mohammed Ateeq Al Falahi, heads of ERC branches, individual volunteers and representatives of corporate volunteers and partners of ERC attended the ceremony.
In his speech at the ceremony, Acting Deputy Secretary-General for Local Affairs, and Head of ERC Branch in Al Ain, Salim Al Rayes Al Ameri, hailed the volunteers' for their contribution to the enhancing of the leading humanitarian role being played by the UAE.
He further noted that ERC closely follows volunteers' initiatives and honourable attitudes towards the underprivileged and the vulnerable both inside and outside the country.
For his part, Chairman of ERC, Hamdan Musallam Al Mazrouie, thanked H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region and President of ERC, for his directives to provide help for all the needy everywhere regardless of their gender, colour or religion.
Helping the needy, Al Mazrouie noted, constitutes the unwavering humanitarian policy established by the founding father of the UAE, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and pursued by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Their Highnesses the Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates and His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
In the ceremony, the ERC officials presented the individual and corporate volunteers with certificates of appreciation in recognition of their humanitarian effort
