An exhibition focused on spreading awareness on the perils of drug abuse, organised by the Permanent Committee for Drug and Alcohol Affairs (PCDAA), opened here Thursday. The five-day exhibition at the Villaggio Mall here is being held under the patronage of the HE Minister of State for Interior Affairs Sheikh Abdulla bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, the ministry said. The exhibition, under the theme ''Let us start a new life together'', coincides with the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking which is observed on June 26 by the international community. Radio and television channels here will broadcast messages on the dangers of drug abuse and preventive methods. An awareness campaign, through bill boards displaying this message placed on highways in association with Qatar Media Corporation, is scheduled the ministry said. The exhibition hours are from 9am to 10pm. Prominent speakers will lecture on religious, social and health topics as well as drug issues and its prevention from 7pm to 9.30pm. The lectures will be broadcast on the Islam web of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs. Mini exhibitions are simultaneously being held at other prominent malls of Doha, Al Khor and Al Wakrah. Fifteen government and civil authorities are participating in the exhibition that will conclude June 27, the ministry said.
