Dubai Health Authority
Dubai - Arab Today

The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) announced that Hatta Hospital received international accreditation from the Joint Commission International (JCI) on Thursday.

Hatta Hospital now joins a list of DHA facilities that received the accreditation, which include 10 Primary Health Care Centers; Nad Al Hamar, Al Badaa, Al Barsha, Al Khawaneej, Al Safa, Al Twar, Al Mizhar, Al Mankhool, Al Mamzar and Al Lissaily.

JCI is an organization which works to improve patient safety and quality of health care in the international community by offering education, publications, advisory services, and international accreditation and certification.

Along with DHA Hospitals that include Dubai Hospital, Rashid Hospital, Hatta Hospital and Latifa Hospital, other DHA facilities also received the accreditation. They include Dubai Airport Medical Center, Al Maktoum Center and the Thalassemia Center to name a few.

Humaid Al Qatami, Chairman of the Board and Director-General of the DHA, said that receiving these international accreditations is a testimonial to the high standards of medical services offered at DHA facilities.

Al Qatami added that this could not have been possible if it weren’t for the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and the support of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of Finance and President of the DHA.

Other DHA facilities that received international accreditation include the Dubai Gynecology & Fertility Centre, which received the accreditation from the Canadian Authority for Accrediting Fertility Centres, making it the first specialised laboratory of its kind to receive the certification in the Middle East. The Dubai Blood Donation Center received international accreditation from the American Association of Blood Banks, while Latifa and Hatta Hospitals received a Baby Friendly Hospital status to name a few.

Furthermore, Dubai’s Public Healthcare Centres (PHC) became the first in the region to receive International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) certifications.

The health centres run by DHA received six certifications in the fields of quality management, environmental management systems, occupational safety and health management systems, social responsibility, customer satisfaction and complaints management system.

First in the Mena region to receive ISO certifications, the centres that were awarded on October 6 include Nad Al Hamar, Al Badaa, Al Barsha, Al Khawaneej, Al Lissaily, Al Mamzar, Al Mankhool, Al Mizhar, Al Safa, Al Twar and Zaabeel.

Al Qatami congratulated DHA employees for all these achievements adding that the authority appreciates all the efforts of those who have helped DHA achieve its goals of having a happy and healthy society.
