The Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS), in cooperation with the local media, Saturday launched a donation-raising campaign for the Yemeni people.
The five-day humanitarian effort is part of Kuwait’s solidarity with “brothers in Yemen who are experiencing hard conditions due to developments in the country,” Board Chairman Dr Helal al Sayer said in a press statement.
The move is “an urgent and immediate response to calls from brothers in Yemen” to meet their needs of foodstuff and medical supplies, he added.
According to al Sayer, the KRCS is following up “with deep worry” ramifications of humanitarian conditions in Yemen and the direct impact on wide sections of the society there, as malnutrition is taking toll on scores of children.
The KRCS chief referred to reports by leading humanitarian organizations warning that Yemen is “on brink of a disastrous food crisis” as some 10 million people, about 44 percent of the population, do not find enough food.
Beneficiaries can deliver donation at the KRCS headquarters, both in the morning From 10:00 to 1:00 and the evening From 4:00 to 9:00, or via the Society’s website, he concluded.
