The Ministry of Health has honored winners of the competition for the 2013-2014 'Facts for Life' book, and participants from the Ministries of Education and Health on Tuesday.
The Ministry of Health is working on brining awareness on how to lead a healthy life in light of the modern daily lifestyle, which affects people's wellbeing and causes chronic diseases, Assistant Undersecretary for technical affairs Qais Al-Duweiri told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).
The 'Facts for Life' book is an initiative of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the World Health Organization (WHO), aiming to develop the health of students and present information regarding the matter in schools curriculums, he noted.
The competition was first organized in Kuwait in 2009, allowing students in the ninth grade to conduct a scientific research on one of the book's chapters, said Al-Duweiri.
Meanwhile, he said that the Ministry is continuously organizing seminars and workshops for students, parents and school members, while also providing medical checkups for students on a regular basis.
The 'Facts for Life' book contains vital information for families and communities to raise healthy children. It also provides advice on pregnancy, childbirth, childhood illnesses, child development and the care of children.
The book is intended for parents, families, health workers, teachers, youth groups, womenآ’s groups, community organizations, government officials, employers, trade unions, media, and non-governmental and faith-based organizations.
