The Lebanese government in cooperation with UNICEF and the humanitarian Foundation Beyond Belief have launched a campaign that will provide healthcare to 10,000 Syrian refugees across 1,200 camps in Lebanon.
The operation will take a few weeks to be carried out, during which medical attention will be given to children, pregnant women and the elderly.
They will be handed medicine by a team of doctors, with children receiving required vaccinations alongside energy-rich foods which will also be provided to the pregnant women, a statement by Lebanon's Health Ministry said on Sunday.
The teams will also be handing out desalination tablets as reports reveal that drinking water sources have been polluted by drainage in some camps after a recent storm that hit the country.
Meanwhile, the ministry added that its around-the-clock vaccination of incoming Syrian refugees has not stopped.
According to UN figures, there are around 1.1 million Syrian refugees in Lebanon, most of whom live under extremely harsh conditions in camps along the borders.
