A team of medical consultants from McGill University, one of Canada's leading research-intensive institutions, have successfully conducted five surgeries, the first of their kind in Kuwait, at the Chest Diseases Hospital. The surgeries aimed to treat deformations of child chest and were conducted in collaboration with Kuwaiti consultants, chief of the chest surgery unit of the hospital Dr. Adel Al-Khidr told reporters here on Monday. He noted that one out of 1,000 children is born with this kind of deformation which exacerbates and starts to affect heart and lungs when they reach the age of eight. The ages of the persons who underwent the surgeries ranged between 13 and 21, Consultant Dhrar Al-Shihab said.
