The Philippine government assuaged Saturday concern regarding the possible spread of Zika virus after a fifth case was reported in the country.
Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said that the Department of Health (DOH) is on top of the situation.
He noted that the DOH was able to immediately detect and take action to a person who could have infected with the virus.
The health department is also coordinating with other centers for disease prevention in other countries to fight the virus, Coloma added.
The DOH has reported Friday that a South Korean national was the fifth case of Zika virus infection in the country. The foreigner acquired the virus while in the Philippines.
He is now recovering in a hospital in South Korea, the DOH said.
