Qatar Red Crescent (QRC) Thursday launched an emergency relief appeal to raise QR 12 Million for earthquake-affected people in Nepal.
Detailing the emergency appeal at a media conference, QRC Secretary-General Saleh bin Ali Al-Mohannadi urged all to support the victims of devastating earthquake in Nepal who need medical aid, shelter, food and water supplies.
QRC will help Nepal in reconstruction work and rehabilitate victims to start normal routine life.
"We follow HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani's firm stance of helping people in crisis, whether natural disaster or man-made, without discrimination," said Al-Mohannadi.
In turn, Mani Ratna Sharma, the charge d'affaires of the Nepali embassy in Doha expressed thanks and appreciation to HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, Qatari government , people and QRC for the urgent respond and providing help and support.
He also lauded Qatar's assistance and QRC efforts and their humanitarian appeal to collect QR 12 million and allocating one million for urgent intervention and relief of earthquake victims in Nepal, while saying QRC's teams arrived Nepal and they were already start to providing aid and establishing a field hospital.
He said that the humanitarian situation is bad and very sad with strong aftershocks continue even now schools and Government offices were closed for a week, citing that there are12 areas , 6,000 people missing along with 12,000 people affected by Earthquake .
