The Emirates Red Crescent is planning more projects to improve healthcare services and infrastructure, address acute shortage in medical supplies, and provide more humanitarian aid in the southern Yemeni province of Shabwa, the UAE's humanitarian arm announced today.
More projects will be carried out in the coming period to improve the situation in Shabwa, said Abdullah Al Musaferi, the representative of the Emirates Red Crescent following the signing of an agreement with a construction company to maintain and refurbish a health centre in the Beer Ali area, Rudum District.
The agreement is part of efforts being exerted by the Emirates Red Crescent to help the residents of Shabwa through a war and a crisis created by the rebels, said Abdullah Al Musaferi, the representative of the UAE humanitarian agency, he noted.
The support being extended by the UAE is part of its humanitarian commitment to ease the suffering of the Yemeni people, he said.
The head of the local administration of Rudum District Mohammed Al Shakliyya described the health centre as a vital project that will serve not only the residents of the district but also the population in nearby villages.
Thanking the Emirates Red Crescent for the generous support, he noted that the Yemeni people will always remember that the UAE stands up for the Yemeni people during times of crisis.
