The World Health Organisation, WHO, announced Friday it no longer sees the Zika epidemic a public health emergency of international concern.
But Zika's threat to pregnant women and babies is not going away anytime soon, the agency says.
"Individual countries facing serious new Zika outbreaks could still declare local emergencies," said Dr. David L. Heymann, chair of the advisory committee.
