Egyptian actress Safia el Emary said she is deeply saddened by the loss of her sister who passed away a few weeks ago and thanks all her friends who supported her during these hard times.
In an interview with Arab Today, Emary said she said she is “very selective” in her work and that the size of the role she stars does not bother her that much.
Emary feels optimistic confident that Egyptian cinema will overcome its problems and prosper in the upcoming period, because, she says, it has the history and experience required.
Emary stated that the current lack of production resources and the decrease of profit are normal. However, he has faith that once life gets back to normal that Egyptian cinema will flourish.
Emary is an Egyptian actress. She was assigned as ambassador of Goodwill with the United Nations in 2007 until her resignation in 2006 as a protest on 2006 Lebanon War.
She began her career as a journalist, after graduating from the Faculty of Commerce. She studied Russian language and worked as an interpreter at international conferences.
She was discovered by the artist Jalal Issa. They got married and have two sons.
Emary has starred in more than 70 movies and has been honored at Egyptian and international festivals with prestigious awards for most of her roles. She has also been the head – or member – of several jury committees for local and international festivals.
