Bejaia - APS

The thirteenth film festival of Bejaia (263-km east of Algiers) closed Saturday evening with the screening of "Dust from en Empire," a movie by French-Vietnamese filmmaker Lam Le.
"Dust from an Empire" (1983) deals with war, love, metaphysics, mysticism and ancient beliefs.
In his drama, Lam Le uses allegories and symbols to tell everything but show nothing, making sure the Pandora's Box about Indochina war will not be opened, a war that fell like a meteorite over that region, devastated then by epic sufferings, desolation, ruin and dust.
The author, who does not directly tackle the damaging effects of colonialism in his work, seized that opportunity to pay tribute to the population of Gaza (Palestine).
