Preview of documentary film "Ad Yidir mmi-s umazigh" by Assad El Hachimi, secretary general of the High Commission for Tamazight (HCA), in tribute to former mujaheed (war veteran) and activist of the Tamazight cause Idir Ait Amrane who died in 2012, will be screened Monday in Tizi Ouzou, said Saturday the film’s director. The 52-minute biographical film relates, with the testimonies of Ait Amrane’s family members and friends, the “career of the mujaheed of the anti-colonial struggle and activist of Tamazight culture,” said Assad. The career started in 1924 with the birth of Idir Ait Amrane in the village of Tikidount in the municipality of Ouacif (Tizi Ouzou), his studies in Algiers, his talent for poetry as he wrote a selection of poems for Tamazight cause, including the famous poems "Ekker Ammis Umazigh" (Wake up son of Tamazight) and "Ghuri yiwan umddakul" (My friend). After the national independence, Idir Ait Amrane held several key positions, including HCA’s president.
