Twelve terrorists were killed Friday morning in fierce clashes with security forces on Wahat road near the New Valley governorate, a high-level security source told MENA.
The Homeland Security Service received information that a number of terrorists are hiding in a mountain on Wahat road.
When the security forces reached the place, the terrorists opened fire on them, the source said, adding that the forces returned the fire and clashed with them.
Combing operations are still ongoing around the area to arrest all terrorist elements hiding there, the source indicated.
The operation comes a week after 16 policemen were killed and 13 others injured while raiding a terrorist hideout on Wahat road.
