Al Azhar Grand Imam Sheikh Ahmed el Tayyeb assured on Monday that Al Azhar is committed to spreading the tolerant teachings of Islam and correcting misconceptions.
During his meeting with new Bangladeshi Ambassador in Cairo Mohamed Ali Sorcar, el Tayyeb said that Al Azhar depends on its Muslim students in spreading moderate thought after returning to their countries.
He has decided to increase the number of scholarships to Bangladeshi students to study at Al Azhar University.
Sorcar thanked Al Azhar and the Grand Imam for their efforts exerted for the Islamic nation, saying that Al Azhar is respected by the Bangladeshi people.
