The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Walid Al-Mualim, has confirmed the seriousness of the political dimensions of the current crisis in Syria, citing the external interventions initiated within Syria, and the dangerous rift that they have caused. He called for Syrians to reconcile and to meet on the common national denominators in order to emerge from the crisis stronger and more efficient, and to fight for a better future. During a seminar entitled, "The march of reform: A political vision of religious law", in Damascus University, Minister Mualim said that goals require the Syrians to reconcile with each other, and to meet on common grounds, with special regards to the reforms proposed by Asad, which he claimed would increase the strength of the national unity that “constitutes the pillar of stability for Syria”. He stated: "We all want Syria to be unified, brotherly, and standing together, dominated by democracy, and immune to external interference.” He added that today the Syrian family is in dire need, because they must calm the angry outbursts, meet challenges, and uphold national unity, acting as a source of strength. He stated that they must also be determined to introduce the proposed reforms to make Syria a free, democratic nation, in light of the fact that national unity can close the doors to foreign challenges, whatever their source may be, and will allow them to emerge from the current crisis stronger, more efficient, and ready to fight the battle for a better future.
