The Antiquities Ministry began on Monday applying "Cairo Pass" permits in archaeological sites and museums in Cairo and Giza governorates.
In statements, member of the technical office of the Antiquities Minister's assistant Moustafa el Soghayar said these permits allowed its holders to visit all Egyptian, Islamic and Coptic archaeological sites and museums in Cairo and Giza for five days.
The new permits aim at encouraging Egyptian and foreign tourists to visit museums and archaeological sites, the official said.
They also aim at promoting inbound tourism and increase financial resources, he added.
The cost of "Cairo Pass" is 80 dollars for foreign tourists and 40 dollars for foreign students.
The permits can be obtained from several places, including the Antiquities Ministry, the Egyptian Museum and Cairo Citadel.
