Tens of thousands of protestors took to the streets of Israel amidst protests calling for the downfall of the government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Israeli press reported. The protestors were protesting against the rise in prices in Israel, especially accommodation. Protestors called for a reduction in the prices of commodities and accommodation as well as for social justice between Israeli citizens without prejudice. Haaretz, Maariv, Ahronot, Yediot newspapers and Israel Radio reported around 150 thousand Israeli citizens taking part in the protests. The protests occurred in a number of Israeli-occupied cities, including the capital, Tel Aviv. 60 thousand angry protestors gathered in Jerusalem outside of Benjamin Netanyahu’s house while chanting hostile phrases against the government, privatisation operations, and those who hold financial power. The protests turned violent as tear gas and smoke bombs were used, resulting in Israeli police interfering and arresting a big number of protestors. Additionally, there was banditry in some roads leading to cities under the Israeli occupation such as Haifa, Ashkelon, Beer?el-Sabe, Ashdod and the villages of Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. In response to the protests Deputy Prime Minister Silvan Shalom demanded that Kadima party join the government and work together towards achieving radical changes to high living expenses.
