Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry will head on Saturday to the Bahraini capital, Manama, to attend the quartet meeting, which brings together the foreign ministers of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the UAE.
In statements released on Friday, Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid said the Egyptian top-diplomat’s participation in the meeting, due on Saturday and Sunday, comes within the framework of what was agreed upon in Cairo talks held on July 5 between the four Arab foreign ministers to hold their next consultative meeting in Bahrain at the end of July.
The quartet meetings reflect the keenness of the four states to coordinate their stances and reaffirm their demands on the Qatari crisis, in addition to making sure to what extent the Qatari government is willing to stop supporting terrorism and interfering in the internal affairs of the four Arab countries, Abu Zeid added.
