An Egyptian plane carrying an aid shipment of powdered infant formula arrived in South Sudan on Thursday.
Thursday’s shipment was the last of a 10-plane airlift to deliver food, medicines and powdered infant formula to South Sudan, Egypt’s Ambassador in Juba Mokhtar el Gammal said.
The airlift was launched on instructions of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and in response to South Sudanese President Salva Kiir’s request to help address the famine that hit some parts of the country, Gammal added.
The aid to South Sudan will continue in all pressing fields, which include education, health and food security, the diplomat asserted.
