Cairo Airport police officers thwarted an attempt to smuggle 53 antique coins and ancient financial bonds out of the country.
The seized antique pieces were found in the luggage of a 45-year-old passenger who works as an engineer.
The archaeological units center at Cairo airport said that the coins date back to the eras of King Farouk and King Fouad.
According to the Egyptian law on the protection of antiquities, the possession of antiquities is prohibited.
