Hamas has condemned the US President, Barack Obama’s speech yesterday as a "desperate attempt" to save Israel from crisis. Fawzi Barhoum, a Hamas spokesman, said in a statement: "Obama wants to give Israel another opportunity to complete their project of building an extreme, racist country at the expense of Palestinian rights.” He described the language used by the U.S. president as "soft diplomatic words that will be of no benefit to the Palestinians." "Obama's talk about the security of Israel proves his lack of interest in the security of Palestine. Palestinians routinely pay the price of the American military and financial support given to Israel’s extremist government that kills our children, our elderly and our women", he said. Barhoum said that the world does not want to give the Palestinians any State or any rights. He stressed that Abbas’s plan is now in US hands. However, Barhoum remained resilient. "Our people do not rely on the US administration. We will get our legitimate rights."
