Iraqi federal forces have stormed on Friday the last city of Kirkuk governorate and clashed with Kurdish Peshmerga forces affiliated to the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), Iraqi security source said on Friday.
Iraqi forces were directed to advance towards the last city of Kirkuk within the framework of the operation launched earlier to impose security on the Kurdish-held territory, the Iraqi National News Agency reported, quoting the source as saying.
Peshmerga forces are indiscriminately bombing residential areas by mortar shells, forcing most families to flee their homes, the source added.
