Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El Sisi
Luxor - Egypt Today

Celebrations marking the launch of new projects in the New Administrative capital resumed Wednesday afternoon in the presence of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and senior state officials.

Minister of Electricity Mohamed Shaker presented an explanation about Siemens company that serves the administrative capital, pointing out that Egypt suffered electricity outages in 2014 and that the ministry had to reduce the loads to 6,000 megawatts (about 25 percent) at that time.

He said that president Sisi put the issue of power on the state agenda as a pillar of development and a national security issue.

The minister said that his ministry had drawn up an urgent plan that managed to add 3,632 megawatts in eight months.

He pointed out that the most important result of the Sharm El Sheikh economic conference was the signing of contracts to import and install three giant power stations to produce electricity to add 14,000 megawatts,

Shaker said that President Sisi played an important role in getting low prices for the new power stations.
