Ailing ousted Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak will spend his 83rd birthday in the Sharm el-Sheikh hospital, sources told Ahram Online. Mubarak grandson Omar plans to visit his grandfather and take a birthday cake to celebrate the day to lift his spirits, Ahram Online said. Supporters of the former president plan to rally outside the state television offices in Malpero to celebrate his birthday, the site said Sources told Ahram Online the former president has refused to see family members and is suffering from depression, which has also affected his health. Mubarak was hospitalized more than a month ago, suffering from an irregular heart beat. His unstable condition has prevented transfer to a military hospital in Cairo. Mubarak, who was forced to step down on Feb. 11, is facing charges of corruption, accumulating illegal profits and abusing his position. He also is accused of ordering Egyptian security forces to shoot at anti-government protesters. His sons Alaa and Gamal were detained in Cairo's Tora Prison last month and are also being questioned on corruption charges. His wife Suzanne is also under investigation.
