The parliament's first undersecretary, Mahmoud el Sherif, lashed out at the recent Israeli measures in al Quds as igniting "religious war" in the region.
He stressed full rejection to the Israeli measures, including restriction of worshiping freedom. The measures are meant to alter al Quds identity.
In statements to MENA on Saturday upon returning from Morocco where he took part in the 25th emergency conference of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU), Sherif said Egypt was among the first states to condemn the Israeli escalation in al Quds and called for an immediate halt of violence against the Palestinians.
He said participants in the conference fully rejected in the final statement the Israeli measures in al Aqsa Mosque.
The conferees called on the United Nations and UNESCO to shoulder responsibility and protect the historical sites in the Palestinian territories.
The conferees agreed on calling on the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) to condemn and penalize the Israeli Knesset over endorsing racist laws.
He commended the Palestinian people's steadfastness in defending al Aqsa Mosque.
