Prime Minister Sherif Ismail has stressed the importance of continuing efforts to develop Egypt's railway.
During a meeting with Transport Minister Hesham Arafat, the premier said a plan was set to upgrade railway infrastructure and develop signalling systems to increase safety measures on board the trains
He also reiterated the importance of continued follow-up of the railway development projects to finalize them on time.
Three projects have been launched in 2015 to develop railway signalling systems at a total cost of 6 billion pounds, Arafat said.
The ministry has also signed deals to purchase 200 carriages and maintain 181 locomotives at a cost of 8 billion pounds, he noted.
Two trains collided in Egypt's coastal city of Alexandria on Friday killing 42 people and injuring dozens others.
