Prime Minister Sherif Ismail held a meeting on Saturday with the ministers of justice and parliamentary affairs on revising needed measures to activate the role of the National Electoral Commission (NEC) once a relevant law is enacted.
The measures include selecting an HQ for the authority, securing needed funds and administrative requirements to swiftly activate the NEC role.
A representative from the Ministry of Finance attended the meeting.
Egypt’s parliament has approved by a two-thirds majority vote a law aimed at creating an NEC to be responsible for supervising general elections and referendums, putting an end to full judicial supervision of elections.
