The Secretary the Palestine Liberation Organisation’s (PLO) Executive Committee, Yasser Abed Rabbo, said on Tuesday that the Palestine United Nations membership bid will not undermine the peace process. Abed Rabbo said in an interview with the Voice of Palestine: “We will not compromise on national rights or reverse our decision to go to the United Nations.” He said that there were different levels of international support for the bid, ranging from full support, to supporting ongoing negotiations. The EU foreign policy chief, Catherine Ashton, has said that the EU is yet to make a decision about the Palestinian UN bid. Abed Rabbo however expressed confidence in the European Union, believing that the EU will make a positive contribution to Palestinian rights.
