The media and political adviser to the Syrian Republic, Dr. Shaaban, has said that dialogue is the only way to get out of the crisis in Syria, and to resolve all the political, economic, and social problems. Dr. Shaaban told reporters that: "All sectors of Syrian society have participated in the consultative meeting which began on Sunday ", stating: "The dialogue which is underway will continue over the coming days." She confirmed that the first session of the dialogue is not over yet, and that there were no restrictions in place, stating: "Everyone spoke as they pleased, talking about the crisis and possible ways to resolve it." With regards to the absence of any strong opposition from the consultative meeting, Shaaban said: "The opposition is absent from this dialogue on account of the negative role that they played in March. I call upon them to play a positive role, and to be constructive. They should help to save the nation rather than relying on bullying abroad. All the foreign countries that have been overthrown were doomed to a tragic fate. We as the Syrian people can solve our own problems, and the opening of dialogue is the best way for the country to escape from this crisis, and to move towards a new Syria." She added: "It is up to the people in the streets to bear their responsibilities, and to believe that the dialogue is the right path for the sons of the Syrian people, who should return and contribute to the building of Syria, rather than going out onto the streets."
