President Abdel Fattah El Sisi issued Sunday a presidential decree pardoning a number of prisoners on the occasion of Islamic Eidul Adha and October war holidays.
The presidential pardon does not apply to prisoners who committed crimes against the state and who carried out terror-related crimes, as well as bribery, forgery, prostitution, corruption, human trafficking, vandalism, disruption of transport and distribution of illegal drugs crimes.
Assistant minister of interior for prison affairs is expected to head a higher committee of relative security authorities to examine the prisoners who deserve to be pardoned in accordance with the provisions of the presidential decree.
