Sudanese President Omar al Bashir on Sunday welcomed the Egypt-backed reconciliation deal between Palestinian Fatah and Hamas movements.
In a phone call with head of Hamas political bureau Ismail Haniya, Bashir expressed hope that the agreement would help achieve unity among the Palestinian people.
Haniya, meanwhile, congratulated Bashir over Washington's decision to lift long-standing economic sanctions on Sudan.
He expressed hope that the decision would help improve the Sudanese economy and bring about development and stability in Sudan.
