National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) Chairman Said bin Mohammed Al-Faihani met House of Lords member Lord Richard Napier Luce and discussed cooperation.
He gave an update on the history of the national watchdog as well its membership mechanism and role in fostering and protecting human rights in Bahrain.
Al-Faihani denied the alleged blockade on Qatar, urging the Qatari National Institution to stop exaggerating facts and exploiting the issue of human rights.
“The concept of blockade does not apply to the situation in Qatar as its airports remain open round the clock”, he said, adding that the Qatari National Institution is merely seeking to mobilise public opinion and play the victim.
He said that the sovereign measures taken by the countries that boycotted Qatar resulted from the Doha support to extremist and terrorist groups which threaten security and stability.
