Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mohamed Shaker met Thursday with the vice president of the Electricity of France (EDF) company to discuss means to develop the electricity and renewable energy sector in Egypt and employ new technologies.
Shaker lauded Egyptian-French cordial relations, stressing the importance of encouraging cooperation between the two countries in various fields.
The minister of electricity stated that Egypt took several initiatives during the last few years to develop the energy sector and stimulate private-sector investments.
On his part, EDF's vice president praised Egypt's government for its accomplishments in the energy sector, saying that Egypt has an enormous potential to became a regional energy hub.
He also expressed France's readiness to share its expertise with Egypt and introduce new technologies to improve the energy efficiency.
