President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Tuesday said Egypt is keen on maintaining contacts with all segments of the US society to promote joint stances on means of confronting regional challenges.
At a meeting with President of the World Jewish Congress Ronald Lauder, Sisi added that efforts now being exerted by Egypt to reach political solutions to several crises in the region highlight the importance of enhancing coordination with the US to garner international support and urge parties concerned to respond to these efforts to restore stability to the Middle East, said presidential spokesman Alaa Youssef.
For his part, Lauder hailed the recent positive developments in Egypt which attest to the revival of the national economy.
He also lauded keenness of Egypt to entrench the values of citizenship, tolerance and accepting the other, added the spokesman.
The two sides took up several regional issues of common concern atop of which came the Middle East peace process, said the spokesman, quoting president Sisi as having asserted the eagerness of Egypt to achieve inter-Palestinian reconciliation and the return of the legitimate Palestinian authority to the Gaza Strip.
Also, president Sisi underlined the necessity of firmly confronting terrorism and standing up to parties supporting terrorist groups, added the spokesman.
Attending the meeting was head of the Egyptian Intelligence Service Khaled Fawzy.
