Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met on Sunday with his Sierra Leonean counterpart Samura M.W. Kamara in Paris in the presence of Chairperson of the African Union Commission Moussa Faki.
The meeting with Kamara, who also chairs the African Union Ministerial Committee on African Candidatures, comes as part of efforts exerted by Egypt to support the nomination of its candidate for the UNESCO Director-General post Moushira Khattab, spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid said.
Shoukry appreciated the role played by the two African officials in support of Khattab and agreed with them to step up coordination in the coming period, the spokesman noted.
Shoukry also urged maintaining African solidarity in the coming period to secure Khattab's win in the elections.
