Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry held a phone conversation Tuesday with Ghassan Salame, the newly-appointed UN envoy to Libya.
Shoukry congratulated Salame on assuming his new post, spokesman for the foreign ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid said.
The talks covered means to restore peace to the war-torn country and efforts exerted to reach national reconciliation, he added.
The minister reviewed efforts exerted by Cairo to bring Libyan rivals together and to bridge gaps among them in accordance with the UN-sponsored Skhirat Agreement.
Egypt supports stability and peace efforts to maintain unity of the Arab country, the Egyptian top diplomat said.
