Irrigation Minister Mohamed Abdel Ati left for Ethiopia on Monday to participate in a ministerial meeting of the Tripartite National Committee on the Renaissance Dam (TNCRD).
During his stay in Ethiopia, the minister, leading a technical delegation, will visit the construction site of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD).
The visit is organized by the Ethiopian side for the irrigation ministers of Egypt and Sudan.
The visit is out of Egypt's keenness on finalizing the technical studies as soon as possible, so that the results will be taken into account at the start of the filling and operation of the dam as per the Declaration of Principles.
In December 2015, the three irrigation ministers agreed on visiting the site of the dam during the six-way meeting that was held in Khartoum.
The committee was formed to evaluate the impact of the Renaissance dam on downstream countries Egypt and Sudan.
