King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa receives Sitra delegation
Manama - Egypt Today

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa today received, at Al-Sakhir Palace, a number of citizens from Sitra, reflecting royal keenness on reaching out to Bahrainis.

HM the King delivered the following speech:

“We would like first to welcome you and to thank you for being here, keeping the tradition of the generous people of Bahrain and their keenness on reinforcing cordiality and compassion through direct contacts and strong solidarity, sources of immense satisfaction.

We wish to thank everyone on the New Hijri Year and we pray God the Almighty to make it a year of goodness and successes for Bahrain and the Arab and Islamic nation.

This occasion is a good opportunity to emphasize our unifying national values and to preserve our cohesion and unity and the stability of our country, which has always derived its strength from the sincerity of its sons who are fully alleged to it and are always ready to defend every single inch of the homeland.

We also reaffirm our pride in the unanimous stance of the people of Bahrain to exert efforts in the service of their country, to protect its gains and to preserve their values stemming from their rich civilization based on diversity, tolerance, coexistence and the rejection of the causes of division and disagreement.

History is rich with testimonies showing how Bahrain’s genuine values have been a crucial factor in strengthening the pillars of the nation and in establishing Bahrain as a civilized model of coexistence and human openness.

Dear Brothers,

In a country open for all, the process of comprehensive nation-building will continue throughout Bahrain, with the will of God and the help of patriots so that our country will remain proud of its ancient history and glorious present. We look forward to a future that is both bright and prosperous.”

HM the King then lauded the rich history and culture of Sitra, praising the outstanding contributions of its people to the nation-building process.

He recalled the visit he made to Sitra after he became the ruler of Bahrain and the graciously warm welcome he was accorded by the inhabitants in a great show to renew their allegiance.

HM the King expressed thanks and gratitude to all the people in Sitra, particularly Shaikh Mohammed Mansoor Al Sitri for the impressive coordination of the meeting between the king and the citizens.

HM the King also recalled the contributions of the older generations of Sitra, including the late Shaikh Mansoor Al Sitri.

HM the King paid tribute to the remarkable role by the fathers and grandfathers in providing the following generations with a deep sense of culture and social values, adding that he was looking forward to the continuation of direct communications between fathers and sons as a way to consolidate the principles, traditions and culture of Bahraini.

It also helps to reinforce the true sense of citizenship, highlight the history and civilisations of Bahrain and deepen the spirit of peaceful co-existence and tolerance that has always prevailed in the Kingdom.

Such a spirit has helped Bahrainis to overcome numerous challenges thanks to their awareness, values and trust, HM the King said, stressing the continuation of direct contacts with all Bahrainis from all areas.

On behalf of Sitra people, former MP Mohammed Abbas Al-Sheikh thanked HM the King for giving them the good opportunity, hailing royal keenness on reaching out to his people.

He reiterated loyalty, amity and allegiance to HM the King, stressing firm stances against any attempts to subvert national security and stability or derail hard-won achievements, towards consolidating national unity and social cohesion and protecting Bahrain from internal interference and terrorist attacks. .

He paid tribute to HM the King for his crucial role in bolstering unity through the National Action Charter, which was endorsed by a sweeping majority.

MP Shaikh Majeed Al-Asfoor also addressed the audience, outlining the needs of the villages of Sitra, Al-Maameer, Al-Eker, Nabih Saleh and other neighboring villages.

He lauded HM the King for his royal order to build 40,000 housing – including 5000 at East Sitra City which is still under construction.

Work is already nearing completion on 700 units located at residential bloc 609. Mp. Al-Asfoor expressed the hope that a land plot would be allocated for the housing project in Nabih Saleh.

He outlined a string of other demands, which cover infrastructure, culture and sport facilities, public parks, employment of graduates, education and health facilities and fishing jetties.
