The International Atomic Energy Agency.
Vienna - TASS

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the UN nuclear watchdog, confirms that Tehran is meeting its commitments under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on its nuclear program, Russian Permanent Representative to the Vienna-based international organizations Mikhail Ulyanov told TASS on Tuesday.

"We have recently hashed this issue over with the IAEA Secretariat and once again they confirmed to us that Iran irreproachably meets its commitments. The agency does not have any complaints about it," Ulyanov said when asked about the agency’s assessments in further reports on the JCPOA’s implementation amid the new wave of US sanctions.

Tensions over Iran’s nuclear program have been running high since the United States unilaterally withdrew from the 2015 JCPOA. Iran and five world powers (Russia, the United Kingdom, China, France and Germany) plan to observe the deal. The IAEA emphasized in its reports earlier that Iran was committed to the agreement and its nuclear activity was under strict control and subject to thorough checks. The agency encouraged Tehran to keep complying with the nuclear deal.
