Kuwaiti Prime Minister Shaikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah said Kuwait was determined to back UN for achieving global peace and security.
The Kuwaiti prime minister was in New York to represent the Amir for the UN General Assembly's (UNGA)'s 72nd Session as his country would start non-permanent UN Security Council membership in January 2018. He called on the world's countries to support the UN programmes, according to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).
Shaikh Jaber thanked all countries that supported Kuwait to win its 2018-19 UNSC membership, citing the UN programmes aimed at achieving peace and security, counter-terrorism, promoting co-existence and push forward for progress and prosperity. He reaffirmed Kuwait's firm support to UN's development and humanitarian programmes. He said Kuwait contributed positively to addressing many disasters and crises in many countries around the world, leading to the UN honoring HH the Amir as "Humanitarian Leader," and Kuwait as Humanitarian Centre.
The Kuwaiti PM said he was honored to represent the Amir to the UNGA meetings, which would be held amidst regional and international developments that required an international cooperation to
address them, KUNA.
