Malaysian Deputy Foreign Minister Reezal Merican has highlighted Malays's relations with Al Azhar as strong, saying they go back to more than 70 years.
These remarks made during Al Azhar Deputy Sheikh Abbas Shouman's meeting with a Malaysian delegation, headed by Merican.
Malaysia will host in October the international conference of the World Association for Al Azhar Graduates which will be a great chance for exchanging visions, Merican said.
He added that Malaysia seeks to increase the coordination and cooperation with Al Azhar and benefit from its enormous experience in spreading Islam's tolerance.
Shouman noted that Al Azhar hosts many of Malaysian students as it appreciates the appreciation of Malaysia and its people to Al Azhar which reflects the tolerance of the Azhari curriculum.
