Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte on Saturday called on the United States to exercise restraint in dealing with Korean Peninsula issues.
During a news conference held here at the end of the 30th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit, Duterte said he is "expecting a call" from U.S. President Donald Trump.
The Philippine president said he would tell the U.S. leader, "please see to it that there should be no war because my region will suffer immensely," adding that "the first fallout (if ever) will be us in Asia."
Duterte also said the ASEAN member states are "extremely worried" over the Democratic People's Republic of Korea's latest launch of a ballistic missile.
