Antiquities Minister Khaled el Anani said that Prime Minister Sherif Ismail discussed the progress in implementing antiquities projects during their meeting on Monday.
Speaking at a press conference following the meeting, the minister said Ismail reviewed the ongoing works at the Grand Egyptian Museum, which exceeded 70 percent.
"The museum is expected to partially open in February 2018," he noted.
"Ismail was also informed about the work progress in Sohag Museum, in which works began in 1993 and will open in 2018," he added.
The premier reviewed the restoration works of Al Azhar Mosque, which are funded by Saudi Arabia. They will be accomplished in 2018, Anani said.
A number of archaeological discoveries will be made public soon, he said.
Projects to restore the Giza Pyramids, Baron Empain Palace, Muhammad Ali's Shubra Palace, the Jewish temple in Alexandria and Al Kabbash road in Luxor are ongoing, he said.
