Morocco's police arrested on Wednesday a 27-year-old man for alleged involvement in the murder of a lawmaker near his house in Casablanca.
The police discovered on late Tuesday the body of an MP inside a car in front of his house, the police said in a statement.
The police have not revealed neither the name of the murdered MP nor the name of the suspect, but local media has reported that the 54-year-old lawmaker is Abdellatif Merdas from the liberal Constitutional Union Party (UC).
According to the statement, a black private car drove around the victim's house before fired three shots at him and fled the scene.
Investigations are underway, the statement noted.
