A 21-year-old Arab man in Abu Dhabi was caught with Dh60 million worth of amphetamines hidden inside cheese and eggplants.
On Wednesday, the Abu Dhabi Federal Court heard the case of the man who was not only the youngest drug dealer to get caught in the capital, but also one who pushed the largest quantity of narcotics among UAE residents.
More than one million amphetamine pills wrapped inside plastic bags and hidden inside blocks of cheese and eggplants, which were carried in a transparent jar filled with olive oil, according to the Arabic daily Al Bayan.
Court documents revealed that the Anti-narcotics Department at Abu Dhabi Police launched an investigation and monitored the whereabouts of the Arab suspect.
In a police officer’s testimony, he stated that police received a tip-off about the suspect’s involvement in promoting drugs with the collaboration of another Arab man.
The tip-off also claimed that the suspect was in possession of narcotic and psychotropic substances, who had the intention of distributing them.
The suspect was arrested at the commercial area of Mohammad Bin Zayed City behind Al Safeer Mall, and upon searching his vehicle, police discovered narcotic pills.
The suspect then confessed that more narcotic pills were stored in his house, which also belonged to the second suspect.
After searching the house, Abu Dhabi Police found a weighing scale, 16 rubbish bags, 10 plastic bags and travel bags that contained more than one million pills.
The second suspect was later arrested near his home in the area of Al Mussafah.
